TOOL: 72826 First Demo Album (1991)

TOOL: 72826 Demo Album cover

72826 is a demo tape by Tool. It was released in December 21, 1991 in very limited quantities, probably between 1500 copies of the album. It is also referred to by the name Toolshed, or Tool. The band chose the name due to the fact that 72826 spells “Satan” if dialed by a touch-tone telephone. 72826 features six tracks. Two of them, Cold and Ugly and Jerk-Off, were never released as studio recordings outside this demo. Instead, they were re-recorded live at the Jello Loft on New Year’s Eve 1991, the band’s second public show. The live recordings were later featured on the band’s first EP, Opiate. (March 10, 1992)
