The iconic band Nirvana and its leader Kurt Cobain still don’t have a commemorative Star on the ‘Hollywood Walk Of Fame‘, despite their revolutionary influence on the 90’s culture (Generation X) with the musical current ‘Grunge‘ he lead in Seattle Washington, and his millions in records and merchandise sales worldwide.
Fortunately for fans of the band in Cobain’s hometown of ‘Aberdeen‘ the Star exists on their local ‘ Walk Of Fame‘ with the engraved phrase: ‘Kurt Cobain – Lead Singer Nirvana’. Below you can see in the review some Aberdeen’s memorial attractions.
Aberdeen is a city in Grays Harbor County, Washington, USA, and became known worldwide for being the birthplace of the legendary Kurt Cobain, leader of the 90s Grunge rock musical current with his band Nirvana. At the entrance to the city stands a large sign erected in 2005 “Welcome to Aberdeen” followed by the phrase “Come As You Are“, (The third track and second single from the band’s second studio album, Nevermind, 1992 ).
The Kurt Cobain Memorial Park (also called Kurt Cobain Landing) is a small park in Aberdeen opened in 2011 and was adopted by the city of Aberdeen in 2015 which is located near the Young Street Bridge, and the Wishkah River. Places that Cobain frecuented and that probably inspired the songs of Nirvana.
Another attraction at Kurt Cobain Memorial Park is a concrete guitar sculpture, created by local artists Kim & Mara Malakoff. At the base of the sculpture there is a plaque in honor of Kurt Cobain with the phrase “As You Are” in memory of Kurt Cobain.
The Kurt Cobain bronze memorial star is located on Aberdeen Walk of Stars, in the downtown city where it commemorates some of the city’s most notable residents.
